May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
3 May he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.[b]
4 May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
5 May we shout for joy over your victory
and lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the Lord grant all your requests.
6 Now this I know:
The Lord gives victory to his anointed.
He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary
with the victorious power of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
8 They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.
9 Lord, give victory to the king!
Answer us when we call! Psalm 20
My dear children, victory is always found in me. Your victory does not come through your talents, behavior, giftedness or through your position. Victory comes through me, for I am victorious. When you are prone to place your hope and trust in men, governments, powers and rulers apart from me, your victory has already been lost.
Trust me my dear one. The deepest desires of your heart are mine to grant. When you long and your longings go unfulfilled, lean into me. My everlasting care is great and is for you and will sustain you. When you lust for things in this world your lust will lead you to that which is empty. But, instead, when you lust, lust for me. May I be the object of your attention, your desire, your hunger and your thirst…. for truly only I can fulfill. Trust in me. Place yourself in me. Believe in me. Build your foundation in me. And I will satisfy you with the richest and truest of loves.
Lord help me to believe these words to be true. Only you know the deepest longings of my heart, the unmet desires I carry. You know them and often I feel forgotten by you. I confess I run to thing after thing and I lust after beauty, influence, attraction and the things of this world. Forgive me and turn my face towards you. Be the truest, deepest and most pure longing with in me.
Lord, be my hope. Amen
